Here’s the thing—my husband and I had our first date ten years ago at Soul Club in Ann Arbor back when we were students at U of M. Needless to say, music has played a foundational role in our relationship. When we decided to get all matrimonial, we knew we’d need good music to mark the occasion, and music that really felt true to us and our history. Mike delivered on this dream and created the same energy and vibes of our first date for our first dance (and then many dances) as a married couple. Mike also did a great job of communicating with us ahead of time to set up the plan for the evening, and accommodating our requests (like playing a polka for my husband’s Polish family) and helping us pull off our super secret wedding prank of drawing names out of bucket to give impromptu wedding speeches (highly recommend). Our wedding was the first big event for a lot of folks since the start of COVID, and we heard from so many guests what an incredible time they had dancing and how much they loved the music and how it all seemed so “us.” You know you’re on the same wavelength when Mike plays a Talking Heads song, and you just walked down the isle to the Iron & Wine cover—a magically perfect moment. If you have the opportunity to work with Mike, consider yourself lucky and prepare for an amazing musical experience.
